SUNBURY SHOOTER STILL AT LARGE
Police are still looking for the man who shot and killed 30 year old Kareem Jakes at the Penn Jersey Food Mart in Sunbury. According to the Daily Item, 23 year old Ajani Uhuru fled the scene in a blue BMW. When police recovered that vehicle after the incident, Uhuru’s father was driving the car and told police his son had parked the car and gave him directions on where it was to pick it up. Police have searched Uhuru’s home on Fairmount Avenue and said they recovered evidence Uhuru is still considered armed and dangerous and now faces felony criminal homicide and voluntary manslaughter charges. Anyone with information should call 911.
TROUT RUN TRASH DISPUTE
One of two neighbors in Trout Run has a hearing with District Justice William Solomon after an argument over trash turned potentially violent. 62 year old William Michael Starr of Trout Run allegedly threw garbage onto his neighbor’s yard May 3rd. Starr supposedly pulled a weapon and threatened the other neighbor when they threw the trash back. According to NorthCentralPA dot com, Starr is charged with first degree misdemeanor terroristic threats and two second degree misdemeanors for simple assault and reckless endangerment to another person.
FETTERMAN RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL
Lt Governor and Democratic nominee for US Senate, John Fetterman left the hospital Sunday after being treated for a stroke that kept him from celebrating his primary victory last Tuesday. According to WGAL, Fetterman, accompanied by his wife Gisele, was discharged from Lancaster General Hospital following the implant of a pacemaker that will keep his AFib condition under control – which is whaqt caused the stroke conditions. Fetterman was forced to cancel a campaign event at Millersville University May13th when he said the onset of his stroke symptoms caused him to go to the hospital.
PROGRAM ENCOURAGES RURAL LIVING
Two communities in Central Pennsylvania will provide free housing for a month to a limited number of individuals if they move there. Bellefonte and Kane are a part of a pilot initiative through the Pennsylvania Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship, that is trying to attract people to move to the region. In addition to the free housing, people will get digital gift cards and will be asked to volunteer locally during their stay from September 14th through October 14th. Kane is still seeking applicants for their program. Kane is located in McKean County.
CHEER COACH CHARGED WITH ASSAULT OF MINOR
A Williamsport competitive cheer coach has been charged with several felonies after a victim came forward saying she was sexually assaulted between January 2016 and January 2019. According to North Central PA dot com, police say 46 year old George William Scholl was employed by Epidemic Stunt and Tumble on Rose Street in Williamsport and lured his victim into an office to carry out the abuse. Scholl then encouraged the girl, who was in fourth grade when the abuse began, to lie about not feeling well to other coaches. He has been charged with several felonies, including rape of a child, unlawful contact with a minor, and other charges. He is in Lycoming County Prison in lieu of 150 thousand dollars monetary bail.
MISSING JUVENILE HIDDEN BY ADULT IN APARTMENT
A Lock Haven woman concealed a juvenile who had been missing for 2 days in her apartment and under a couch and lied to police when they asked about the whereabouts of the child, has been charged with kidnapping of a minor. According to North Central PA dot com, police say they have door camera footage of 38 year old Gwen Ardner with the juvenile in question, who she says was dating her son, around the doorway and hall of her apartment building. The footage was seen by police after Ardner and her son said they didn’t know where the missing person was. She is incarcerated at the Clinton County Prison in lieu of 125 thousand dollars bail.
BILL TO CLEAR VOTER ROLES PASSES IN PA HOUSE
A bill passed in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives that will allow the names of deceased voters to be removed from the roll and could allow for a non-profit organization to assist the state in improving the accuracy of voter rolls. Previous legislation did not allow ERIC, or the Election Registration Information Center to be used. According to a press release, 31 states and Washington DC are already members of ERIC. House Bill 2507 will now be considered in the Senate.

Saturday, Montoursville Senior Lily Saul won gold in the Class AA 400 and then capped off her year by setting the District record in the 800, running 2:13.20 beating the 2008 record of 2:14.30 set by Kaylen Fisher of Lewisburg. Southern Columbia sophomore Kate Moncavage also broke the D4 record in the 800 with a time of 2:13.68. Saul will compete in State meet next weekend in Shippensburg.

Ryan Blaney was able to hold on to the front position when the checkered flag came out early, right before a yellow flag signaled a caution. This required 2 more laps so the All-Star race could finish finish under a green flag. Blaney held off Denny Hamlin in the final two laps, that confused his pit crew and team, who were already celebrating his NASCAR’s All-Star race win and a $1 million purse.
