DRUGS SEIZED FROM SPRUCE STREET HOME
A Williamsport man has been arrested for felony possession with intent to deliver after police seized a large amount of prescription drugs, fentanyl and opioids at a home on Spruce Street on Tuesday. According to court records, 60 year old Charles Edward Johnson tried to tell officers the drugs were for his personal use, but police note none of the narcotics taken from his home had any prescription information. Their street value was estimated at approximately 22 thousand dollars. Johnson has been jailed at Lycoming County Prison in lieu of 95 thousand dollars bail.
MIDDLEBURG WOMAN STEALS FROM RELATIVE
A Snyder County jury has convicted a Middleburg woman of taking money from an elderly relative as she acted as her power of attorney. According to the Daily Item, 55 year old, Debbie Beachel made withdrawals in excess of 30 thousand dollars from the relative’s bank accounts between 2016 and 2018. Police say they were contacted by family members after the family noticed large amounts of money going missing. The jury decided that Beachel violated her duty as power of attorney. Sentencing will be held on a future date.
COUNTERFEIT MONEY COULD BE IN DANVILLE
Fake currency that says “for motion picture use only” could be circulating in the Danville area. According to the Danville Business Alliance phony $100 bills were found along Route 54 in Riverside and Danville police are investigating and have issued an advisory to area consumers. If you see paper money along the road do not pick it up, but you can contact police. Businesses are advised to make sure they use counterfeit bill detection pens during transactions with bigger bills.
LYCOMING COUNTY GOP SENATE RECOUNT COMPLETE
Lycoming County’s Director of Elections, Forrest Lehman told the Commissioners this week that they have completed the required recount of votes in the US Senate Republican Primary and that the results are accurate and the system is working correctly, according to the Sun Gazette. McCormick garnered 36.2% of the vote in Lycoming County opposed to Oz’s 31%, however in all of Pennsylvania, that difference is much smaller. As of the first unofficial count, the two candidates are within 900 votes of each other. The recount should be complete across the commonwealth as of June 8.
NO CAUSE FOUND IN KULPMONT FIRES
Northumberland fire officials say the fire that badly damaged four double homes in Kulpmont early Wednesday has been ruled undetermined. According to North Central Pa dot com, 22 people have been left homeless after the two-alarm fire began after 1:30am Wednesday along the back of a home Spruce Street and and spread between the narrowly spaced houses along Wheatley Avenue. About 60 firefighters from four counties arrived to fight the blaze. The Red Cross has been called in to assist the displaced families.
MAN CHARGED FOR STABBING RESIDENT WITH A FORK
A Sunbury man has been charged with disorderly conduct after an argument in an upper Augusta home led to him stabbing a resident there in the hand with a fork. According to Court records, 18 year old Keigan Reinard allegedly threatened two residents May 24th and police responded. Reinard has been charged with disorderly conduct as well as first-degree misdemeanor terroristic threats and simple assault, plus harassment.
COUPLE ARRESTED AT MONTOURSVILLE WALMART
Police arrested a man and woman at the Montoursville Wal-Mart Sunday. The woman, 36 year old Stephanie Louiz of Corning, NY, was seen on surveillance taking a wallet from a store employee’s car. She then entered the store while the driver of the Jeep Patriot in which they arrived, waited for her. Police were called to investigate that theft and found Smith still parked next to the victim’s car. Police found out the Jeep was stolen and took Smith into custody. Louiz was arrested inside the store’s electronics department. She was found with the victim’s wallet in her possession and with a small amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia in her purse. Both were incarcerated at Lycoming County Prison.
GAS PRICES A LITTLE LOWER
There’s a little relief in gas prices. Average prices in Pennsylvania have fallen 1.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging four dollars and 75 cents a gallon today, according to GasBuddy.com. The survey of over 5 thousand stations in Pennsylvania determines that average. Prices in Pennsylvania are 41.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand a dollar 59 a gallon higher than a year ago. The cheapest station in Pennsylvania was priced at $4.15/g yesterday in Chester County.

WILLIAMSPORT MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT OF MINORS
A Williamsport man has been incarcerated after investigators learned that over a two year period, he was paying juveniles after he sexually assaulted them. According to the Sun Gazette, 35 year old Devin Mims of Dove Street also promoted the prostitution of minors and threatened several juveniles with guns if he was unhappy with the circumstances. Court recordfs that were previously sealed have become public revealing that Mims faces more than 250 criminal charges including 25 counts of statutory sexual assault as well as trafficking in individuals charges. A district judge remanded him to the Lycoming County Prison without bail.
LANE RESTRICTIONS ON 654 THIS WEEK
There will be lane restrictions beginning this morning on Route 654 in Limestone, Bastress and Susquehanna Townships in Lycoming County today. According to PennDOT, maintenance crews will be out this morning until 5pm today and again tomorrow 6a-5p for sealcoating on 654 between the intersection with Route 44 and the Duboistown Borough Line with flaggers taking traffic down to a single lane. District 3 officials say seal coating has proven to be a cost-effective means to preserve our roadway network and also enhances the skid resistance of the roadway.
CITY SEEKS PUMP STATION DESIGN UPGRADE BIDS
Williamsport levee pump stations at Spring Run, Mill Race and Arch Street were reviewed recently by engineering companies potentially interested in putting in a proposal for designs of the upcoming repairs that will be needed. According to the Sun Gazette, city engineer Jon Sander said nine pump stations in all need upgrades after they were installed in the 1960s and 70s. The levee repairs are a priority eligible project using American Rescue Plan Act funds with expenditures expected to reach about 2.1 million dollars. Bid specifications are to be coordinated with the US Army Corps of Engineers Baltimore District with the job specs listed now on PennBid, and remaining for two months.
FIRE COMPANY REQUESTS GRANT FOR RENOVATIONS
The Old Lycoming Township Volunteer Fire Company has received a letter of support from the board of township supervisors to accompany a million dollar grant for upgrades and renovations for the Dewey Avenue building they currently use. According to the Sun Gazette, if the company obtains the grant, they will modify the stations current 32 year-old building to accommodate growth that would help recruit and retain future volunteers. It could include renovating close to 1500 square feet of space within the existing facility, to include dormitory housing and bath facilities for volunteers, paid staff and college live-ins.
WOMAN CHARGED IN BABY WIPE CHOKING DEATH
A woman from Everett, PA has been charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children and other charges after doctors determined a three year old in her care Saturday died after choking on baby wipes. According to WTAE Pittsburgh, 31 year old Chelsea Cooley called 911 to report the choking and 3 year old Travis W. Young was airlifted to UPMC Children’s Hospital where doctors say he died Sunday. An autopsy determined the death of the boy to be strangulation. They did not list the relationship between Cooley and the boy. A preliminary hearing for Cooley is June 8 @9 in Bedford County Central Court.
CENTRE COUNTY MAN FLEES FROM SHOOTING SCENE
A man who fled from police after a shooting in Centre County yesterday is in custody. According to North Central Pa Dot com, a shooting occurred at a home between two males on Capstone Lane in Worth Township and State Troopers at Rockview were called to the scene. The shooting suspect fled the scene and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police eventually tracked down the shooter and arrested him without incident.
CITY COUNCIL WANTS BUDGET INFO EARLIER
The Mayor of Williamsport has responded to city council’s request to begin addressing the 2023 budget this summer so that the Williamsport City Council Finance Committee can include relevant budget talks with city departments as they roll toward the end of the year. According to the Sun Gazette, Mayor Derek Slaughter told the council in a statement that the request to have information early is reasonable, but he’s waiting for information from state and city auditors who have not yet completed their audits. Councilwoman Liz Miele has asked the administration for a report on the city’s debt and other information that can benefit the council as they prepare for budget talks.
BOALSBURG COUPLE PROVIDES PENN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
Pennsylvania College of Technology has established the Thomas C. and Rhonda R. Miller Scholarship for Penn College students enrolled in automated manufacturing or welding and metal fabrication programs. According to a press release, the couple from Boalsburg gifted the endowed scholarship out of a strong belief in the impact the program at Penn College has on the economy in the commonwealth. The scholarship gives first preference to full time students from Northcentral Pennsylvania, and is renewable as long as a student maintains a 2.5 GPA or higher.

Severe weather has caused the cancellation of the evening of racing tonight at the Bloomsburg Fair Raceway that was to feature the Rapid Tire USA East Coast Sprints, ARDC Midgets and FWD 4-Cylinder Stocks. BODY FOUND IN SUSQUEHANNA IDENTIFIED
Police from York County, PA say that boaters found an unresponsive man floating in the Susquehanna River and unsuccessfully attempted to resuscitate him before first responders arrived. According to PennLive, the York County Coroner said the man was identified as 61-year-old Craig Sellers from Dauphin County. He was found near the Goldsboro Marina and was pronounced dead Tuesday night around 7pm. State police say there will be an autopsy conducted today to determine the cause of death.
POLICE SEARCH FOR ROAD RAGE SUSPECT
Police are looking for a white male with a beard who drove his red Ford Escape into another car in what they are calling a road rage incident in Loyalsock Township. According to state police, the person reporting the incident was being followed by the suspect at Northway Road and Sheridan Street on Sunday around 4pm, when they stepped out of their car. The suspect then accelerated toward the victim who had to jump back into their car to avoid injury. Police recovered a piece of the suspect’s vehicle that had been left behind after he crashed into the driver’s side door of the victim.
SUPREME COURT FREEZE COULD SLOW US SENATE RACE RECOUNT
In the midst of a recount for the race for the GOP nomination for US Senate in Pennsylvania between David McCormick and Dr. Mehmet Oz, the US Supreme Court blocked a 2021 ruling from the 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals saying a missing handwritten date on the outside of the ballot envelope was immaterial. This block now freezes the matter until the High Court considers it. The PA Department of State has not yet advised counties on how to handle those ballots. According to the Sun Gazette, mail-in ballots counted from 65 of the state’s 67 counties gives McCormick’s campaign somewhat of a closer edge, as he requests hand-recounts in some precincts. The recount for the May 17th election is set to be complete June 8th.
FIRST FRIDAY WILLIAMSPORT
First Friday is coming in Williamsport this weekend. The free evening featuring art and entertainment will be at the Pajama Factory encouraging the public to enjoy the courtyard and explore the history of the building that began as the Lycoming Rubber Company in the late 1800s. The public is invited to meet artists and entreprenuers at the event as well as enjoy food, a cash bar and music at 1307 Park Avenue rain or shine from 6 til 9pm.
FAMILY ESCAPES BURNING HOME
There was a large fire accompanied by several explosions at a home in Piatt Township Monday night and the family who lived there escaped injury. According to the Sun Gazette, Douglas Hopple and his wife, along with their pets, escaped from their home at 672 Cement Hollow Road, moments before a loud explosion added to the serious blaze. The fire which witnesses say could be seen from the Reach Road interchange of 220 broke out before 7:30pm and firefighters had to struggle to get the fire under control for about an hour using shuttles for water in the remote location they also drained an above ground pool on the property. The state fire marshal was unable to determine a cause of the fire since there was extensive damage done.
FATAL ACCIDENT AFTER MAN EXITS CAR IN MEDIAN
A man from Harrisburg was involved in a fatal accident on I-80 in Columbia County last weekend after he got out of his vehicle and was hit by multiple cars when he ran to the opposite side of the interstate. According to Penn Live, Julio Perez and Andres Arce, got into a fight while driving along I-80 westbound in Mount Pleasant Township around 10:45pm Saturday when witnesses say Arce started driving at a fast rate of speed into the median and Perez exited the car. He was struck by multiple vehicles on the eastbound side of the road. Arce has been charged with aggravated assault, involuntary manslaughter and recklessly endangering a person and was taken to the Columbia County Jail.
AERIAL BLACK FLY SPRAYING TODAY
There will be aerial black fly spraying today on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River and local streams including Chest, Sinnemahoning, Pine, Penns, and Middle Creek. This operation will begin near Clearfield this morning and will move down river, ending this afternoon in Selinsgrove. The spraying involves flights in Clearfield, Clinton, Lycoming, Snyder, Union, and Northumberland Counties. The substance dropped will be a bacterial larvicide, not a chemical. Governor Wolf has announced in-person and virtual presentations intended for service providers, senior citizens, and the public to learn about potential fraud and scam programs and other financial tips to promote financial capability. MAN ASSAULTS PREGNANT WOMAN
A Mount Carmel area man is facing charges after he allegedly strangled and bit a pregnant woman inside a vehicle. According to media outlets, witnesses say, 21 year old Julio Omar Rivera-Lopez, reached across the driver’s seat of his vehicle and grabbed the pregnant woman’s throat while the vehicle was parked in Coal township. Officers said they observed marks on the accuser’s neck and teeth marks on her leg, allegedly from Rivera-Lopez also biting her. He has been charged with second degree felony strangulation, second degree misdemeanor simple assault and harassment, and is in jail in lieu of $1,000 monetary bail. His preliminary hearing is June 7th.
75 YEAR SEXUAL ASSAULT SENTENCE
A Montgomery man was sentenced to a minimum of 75 years after being found guilty of multiple felonies in a November 2019 sexual assault. According to North Central PA dot com, 43 year old Collin Scott Reid was sentenced this week at the Lycoming County Courthouse. Reid was found guilty of multiple felonies that included aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, forcible compulsion, and statutory sexual assault, along with other misdemeanors.
LYCOMING COUNTY RESIDENTS TO PLEAD GUILTY FOR CAPITOL BREACH
Two Lycoming County residents that allegedly participated in the January 6, 2021 breach of the U.S. Capitol building are expected to enter guilty pleas next month. According to online reports, Mark R. Aungst, of South Williamsport and Tammy A. Bronsburg, of Williamsport, will have a phone conference on June 27 with District of Columbia federal Judge Reggie B. Walton, according to court records. Attorneys for the pair, entered their intent to plead guilty to the misdemeanor charges May 23. At least 846 individuals have been charged for breaching the Capitol. Brian Gunderson from Centre County also had been charged for his alleged involvement.
NEW TREASURER FOR WILLIAMSPORT
There is a new treasurer for the City of Williamsport. According to the Sun Gazette, Kevin Mackey – no relation to Councilman Jon Mackey – received the appointment and was approved by council on Thursday night. Mackey replaces outgoing treasurer Nicholas Grimes, who submitted his letter of resignation on April 15, and has since accepted a job offer at Keystone Central School District. Grimes had served as treasurer since 2015.
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR DISTURBANCE
A Williamsport woman caused a disturbance at a Grampian Blvd apartment complex last Thursday night and was arrested by city police. According to the Sun Gazette, police say 30 year old Brandy Jean Little who lives on Almond Street was yelling expletives at an ex-boyfriend driving around the parking lot in his vehicle following a domestic altercation. She refused to leave the area and tampered with her restraints in the cruiser when State Troopers responded to the call and detained her. Little was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness
SERIOUS INJURIES FOR MILTON MAN IN MOTORCYCLE CRASH
A Milton man sustained serious injuries in a motorcycle crash Sunday morning in Northumberland County. According to North Central PA dot com, police say 65 year old Christopher Smith lost control of his bike when traveling north on Susquehanna Trail south of the intersection with Rovendale Drive. Smith tilted left making contact with the asphalt which threw him. He was transported to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville and was in the ICU Monday according to hospital officials.
ROADWORK IN SHAMOKIN DAM
Penn DOT says there will be roadwork for the remainder of this week in Shamokin Dam. According to a press release, there will be lane restrictions for about a mile and a half on Route 11/15 near Monroe Marketplace. The lanes will have crews between the hours of 9 and 5 today through Friday between Runyan Road and Stetler Avenue.
GOLD STAR MONUMENT DEDICATED IN WILLIAMSPORT
The Gold Star Family Monument was dedicated Saturday at the Lycoming County Veterans Memorial park Saturday at the annual Memorial Day weekend event. According to the Sun Gazette, the monument is now a permanent fixture in the park on Wahoo Drive that is included as a memorial to all fallen military men and women in all branches. A special tribute was mentioned for Bart and Constance Howard, the Gold Star parents of Lance Cpl. Abram Howard, of Williamsport, who was killed in action in 2010 while serving in Afghanistan. Veterans Memorial Park commission chairman and Korean war veteran, Howard Wilt said more monuments for the park are being planned; including recognition for those earning a Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross and Congressional Medal of Honor.

MAN JAILED FOR SHAKING INFANT
An infant remains hospitalized in an undetermined condition after a Cogan Station man allegedly shook the 5-month old which caused traumatic brain injury. According to North Central Pa dot com, police say on April 30th, 31 year old Owen W. Moore was in the care of the baby and a 3 year old at a home in Gregg Township, when he called 911 to report the baby was unresponsive. First responders attempted resuscitation and then transported the infant to Evangelical, but she was then transferred to Geisinger, where pediatricians determined she suffered from physical trauma and fractures on her foot and leg, which are consistent with abuse. Moore has been charged with felony aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children, and went to the Union County Jail this week in lieu of 25 thousand dollars monetary bail.
LITTLE LEAGUE REACHES OUT TO EXTENDED FAMILY IN TEXAS
The people of Little League International made an effort this week to comfort its extended baseball community in Uvalde, Texas, who’s loss of 19 elementary school children in a school shooting included several little league players. According to the Sun Gazette, Little league officials connected Texas families with counseling and assistance for children experiencing trauma using resources through a licensed psychologist from Georgia on the board of Little League International. Lycoming County Commissioner Scott Metzger alsp told the paper that he spoke with the president of Little League in Uvalde, Jesus Suarez, Jr., to express sympathy and support for the families there. The Chairman of Little League International’s Board of directors is from Texas.
NOMINATION FOR JERSEY SHORE TEACHER
A ninth grade English teacher at Jersey Shore Area School District has been nominated for Pennsylvania Teacher of the year for 2023. According to a press release, Mrs Brooke Menzen has taught for only ten years , but she is a caring, effective teacher and she says she is grateful for all the people who has supported her since she began teaching. The Pennsylvania Teacher of the year is awarded in May of each year. Pennsylvania’s Teacher of the year for 2022 is Elizabeth Raff, a teacher at Penn Manor School District in Lancaster County.
VETERAN’S MEMORIAL SERVICE SATURDAY
There will be plenty of Susquehanna Valley Memorial Day observances this weekend, including the annual Lycoming County Veteran’s Memorial Service at Veteran’s Memorial Park. According to the Sun Gazette, the memorial at West 4th and Wahoo Drive will begins at 11am Saturday and features guest speaker retired Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Earl Hailston. Earlier this week, a dedicated group of current and retired city volunteer firefighters adorned the 380 gravestones at the park with American flags. There will be performances of patriotic music, taps and a rifle salute Saturday, along with the dedication of the New Gold Star Family Monument.
JERSEY SHORE SCHOOL RESPONDS TO SOCIAL MEDIA GUN THREAT
A second incident involving a gun threat occurred at the Milton Area School District this week. According to media outlets, Wednesday reverse evacuation protocols were begun just before 1pm, after officials from the district got word of a social media post involving a gun was circulating among the students, and activities that were happening outside were brought indoors. Milton Police conducted an investigation and say they interview the student responsible for the post. On May 16th another student brought a handgun and ammunition to school which prompted an investigation by local police. Superintendent Dr. Cathy Keegan says even though there is no threat at this time, a police presence will remain on all the district campuses.
MURDER SUSPECT’S TRIAL MOVED
Due to security concerns the man accused of murdering a man inside a Sunbury convenience store last week will have his preliminary hearing at the Northumberland county Court house instead of the District Judge’s Courtroom. According to the Daily Item, Ajani Uhuru will face Sunbury District Judge Mike Toomey June 7th, in Courtroom 1 at 1:30pm. Uhuru was apprehended in the Philadelphia area earlier this week after he fled the scene of the murder. Uhuru’s father is also facing charges after he interferrred with the investigation by allegedly attempting to secure the vehicle that was used as a getaway car in the shooting. Both men are in Northumberland County Jail.

POINT DRIVE IN CLOSING THIS SUMMER
If you purchased a season pass for the Point Drive in this year, you may be eligible for a partial refund because after 70 years, the theater is going to close at the end of July. According to North Central PA dot com, the Point Drive in, which used to be called the Arrow drive in before 1957, will give refunds for family or couples passes purchased earlier this year. According to social media the theater will remain open on weekends through July with limited weekday hours due to circumstances beyond their control.

JAIL FOR COVID CARD COUNTERFEITER
A Union County woman could face up to 6 months in jail and five thousand dollars in fines for allegedly printing COVID-19 vaccination report cards. According to the Sun Gazette, Amy B. Leister made an impression of the ID card and logo of the US Department of Health and Human Services around May 17th without authorization and was charged with making or possessing unauthorized ID cards. According to court records, Leister said she would plead guilty to the charges.
THREE ESCAPE WOODWARD TOWNSHIP FIRE
A Woodward township family escaped serious injury after their home on McGill Hollow Road was destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning. According to the Sun Gazette, a couple and their one year old child ran from the home after discovering the living room on fire after midnight. Twelve volunteer fire companies responded to the two alarm blaze at the 17th century home, and struggled to have the water they needed since crossovers have been taken away by construction on Route 220. The cause of the fire is as yet undetermined but fire officials said there was nothing about it that appeared suspicious.
MORE FENTANYL IN PA THAN HEROIN NOW
In a special report from the Office of the Attorney General, fentanyl has surpassed heroin as Pennsylvania’s most dominant opioid drug. In the report, Pennsylvania’s AG Josh Shapiro says that police seized more fentanyl last year than in the last four years combined. Other statistics say that 15 Pennsylvanians die every day from overdoses. Fentanyl is a completely synthetic drug that bears similarities to heroin, but is significantly more potent. Cheap illegal manufacturing of the drug can cause a variance in potency ranging from . 2 milligrams to over 5 in one dose. 2 milligrams is potentially lethal to humans.
PA SENATE RACE HEADS FOR OFFICIAL RECOUNT
Pennsylvania’s Acting Secretary of State Leigh M. Chapman announced that the race for the GOP nod in the US Senate between David McCormick and Mehmet Oz will officially be headed for a recount after the tally between the two candidates has shrunk to less than 1000 ballots and official counts trickle in from each of the counties in the Commonwealth. According to state law, if the votes come within .5% of each other, an automatic recount is ordered. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, about 6,000 mail ballots had yet to be tallied only about 1,200 of those were from Republicans. Before the June 7th deadline, all elections officials across the state will run all ballots through different scanning machines than during the election to come up with an official tally.
ADAMS COUNTY MAN KILLED BY TREE IN JERSEY MILLS
A man from Abbotstown was killed by a large tree that fell on him while he was working on his Jersey Mills property either Monday or Tuesday of this week. According to the Sun Gazette, 66 year old Joseph Shoemaker was found by a friend who had arrived late Tuesday to stay with him on Old Post Office Road in McHenry Township, but hadn’t realized Shoemaker wasn’t in the cabin. Police discovered Shoemaker had been working alone and was struck and trapped by a large tree he was cutting nearby. The Lycoming County Deputy coroner Jerold Ross pronounced him dead Wednesday around 6:15 of blunt force trauma.
NEW BERLIN MAN WITH WARRANTS RESISTS ARREST
A man from New Berlin was arrested last month after he pushed a state trooper who was trying to arrest him for outstanding warrants. According to North Central dot com, police say they responded to a call where 38 year old Ilya Mironenko allegedly created a disturbance at one Buffalo Township business and then was questioned by police later at a nearby produce auction. When it was discovered that Mironenko had active warrants against him and police attempted to take him into custody, he resisted arrest. He was charged with misdemeanors of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct and has a preliminary hearing May 31st.
HIGH SPEED CHASE IN JACKSON TOWNSHIP
Two motorcyclists were arrested last Monday after they sparked a high speed chase with Selinsgrove State Troopers. According to law enforcement reports, the names of the two riders have not been released, but they were taken into custody after they refused to pull over for police in Jackson Township in Snyder County. The two were originally caught on radar on Route 204 and were apprehended after a brief pursuit by police.
NEW ASSISTANT SUPER IN JERSEY SHORE
The Jersey Shore School Board voted in favor of a new assistant superintendent of the School district on Monday. According to the Sun Gazette, Dr. Laura Osenbach, a former teacher with Bachelor and Master’s degrees in education and a Doctorate from Immaculata University in educational leadership, will replace Dr. Ken Dady who resigned to relocate as superintendent of the Mifflinburg School District. Osenbach is a Williamsport native and her contract with the district runs through June 30, 2026.

NO ARREST IN WILLIAMSPORT SHOOTING
Williamsport Police have not yet made an arrest after a shooting on Elmira Street late Monday, killed one man and injured another across the street from where the crime took place. According to the Sun Gazette, police say 39 year old Malik Davis was fatally shot outside the home north of High Street, and that bullet ricocheted and went through a second floor window, injuring a resident there who was in the upper bedroom. That man had only minor injuries and was not hospitalized. Davis was pronounced dead at UPMC Williamsport just after midnight by the Lycoming County Coroner. ROUTE 287 SHUTS DOWN FROM FATAL WRECK
A fatal accident shut down Route 287 in Mifflin Township last night just after 8pm. According to the Sun Gazette, an eastbound water tank truck driver hit an embankment after failing to negotiate a curve near Dam Run Road, and Tiadaghton Valley Regional police were called in since it was first reported the wreck was in Cummings Township. First responders pronounced the driver of the truck deceased at the scene. Route 287 was shut down for several hours last night.
CITY SAVED ON MEMORIAL POOL MAINTENANCE
The city of Williamsport has saved taxpayers about 20 thousand dollars by having their public works department make some of the upgrades to the Williamsport Memorial pool. According to media outlets the pool has had some repairs to fix cracks and leaks, and will now see upgraded electric and LED lighting. According to Mayor Derek Slaughter, the goal is to have the pool open by this weekend. You can get a pool pass for the season by calling the Williamsport Recreation Department at (570) 326-6399.
GEISINGER EXTENDS VISITING HOURS
Visitation has been expanded across the entire Geisinger health System. According a press release, starting this week, visiting hours are now 9am to 8pm. There is no time limit for visitations, but Geisinger says that they only want two visitors at a patient’s bedside at a time. Geisinger continues to enforce a mask policy for patients and visitors at their facilities, regardless of vaccination status.
SUSPECT FROM CITY SHOOTING LAST APRIL IN CUSTODY
The man who sheltered Ajani Uhuru, the Sunbury convenience store shooter, before US Marshals apprehended him in Philadelphia Monday afternoon, was brought back to Lycoming County to face firearms charges of his own. According to the Sun Gazette, Daimeer Abdul Clark was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred in an alley along West Fourth Street in Williamsport April 3rd in which a stray shot struck a bystander who was later treated for his minor injuries. District Judge William Solomon denied bail for Clark yesterday who faces numerous firearms, assault, and reckless endangerment charges here, as well as firearms charges in Philadelphia.
ARSON CHARGES FOR SHAMOKIN MAN
A man from Shamokin is facing arson charges after he allegedly set two separate fires earlier this month. According to WNEP, Shamokin police say Joseph Boscolovich, Jr is the person who started a fire that destroyed a vacant house on South 7th street in Shamokin on May 9th, and then allegedly he set fire to a former bar at the corner of North 5th and West Walnut streets on May 10th. When questioned by police, Boscolovich admitted to setting the fires and said he was tired of the abandoned buildings in the city. He faces charges including arson, burglary, and risking a catastrophe.
PA FLAGS AT HALF STAFF UNTIL MARCH 28
Governor Wolf has ordered all Commonwealth of Pennsylvania flags on commonwealth facilities, public buildings and grounds to fly at half-staff until sunset next Saturday. In accordance with a presidential order, the governor made the immediate invitation for all Pennsylvanians yesterday out of respect for the families who are suffering from the tragic school shooting that took place at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
