Hi, how are all of you doing? Lee Travis here! I was asked to tell you a little about myself, and I said, “OK, here it goes!”
I was born in Oklahoma, and because of my dad’s job, we moved quite a bit. I graduated from Montoursville Area High School. I caught the DJ bug from a gentleman—my dad’s friend—who had a show every Sunday morning throughout the ’80s. So, I took a shot… well, actually, my boss took a shot on me and let me DJ at Great Skate (yes, a roller-skating rink) in Montoursville, where I was also a skate guard. I learned from some really good DJs there (Jack and John).
From there, I started DJing at Skating Plus in Williamsport. My first radio gig was on AM 1340 WWPA, and I also launched my own DJ business (thank you, Scott!). While working at the station, I answered an ad for a nightclub that needed DJs. I took a chance and was hired at Shadows—that was a fun ride! Then, I landed on the air at WHOT, followed by several other stations before joining Backyard Broadcasting in 2020—right before COVID hit.
I have three children, all grown up now.
Well, that’s a little about me. Thanks for reading—and, of course, for listening!
Lee Travis
