THIRD TEEN CHARGED WITH ATTACK OF PREGNANT WOMAN
More charges have been filed against a third suspect involved in the alleged attack of a 19 year old pregnant woman at Hoberman Park in Lock Haven last week. According to the Clinton County District Attorney’s Office, 21 year old Hailey Gillott and a 15 year old juvenile were charged with assault for the attack, but after more details came forward in the case, they found a 16 year old juvenile recorded the attack on her phone who has now also been charged with felony offenses of aggravated assault on an unborn child, felony simple assault and other misdemeanors. The victim and her unborn child both survived the attack and were treated at the hospital. Gillot was in court this week and waived her preliminary hearing. She is in custody in lieu of 100 thousand dollars bail.
MORE JAIL TIME FOR MAN WHO SKILLED TRIAL
A man from Trout Run who did not show up to prison after being convicted of drug delivery offenses is facing more jail time. According to the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office 32 year old Nathan Bassett was given additional time so that his sentence is now 9 months to five years after he was found guilty of flight to avoid apprehension. Bassett’s previous sentence for the drug charges were combined to reflect a total sentence.
REPAVING WORK NEXT WEEK IN WOODWARD TOWNSHIP
Milling and paving of Route 220 is starting up again next Monday in Woodward Township. According to PennDOT, both directions of Route 220 will be milled between the Woodward Township Firehall and approximately 1 mile south of the Reach Road interchange between the hours of 6pm and 6am. Starting Thursday April 24th, final paving will be performed during daylight hours. Motorists can expect alternating lane restrictions on Route 220 while crews are on the scene. Work on this bridge replacement and rehabilitation project is anticipated to be complete in the spring 2025, weather permitting.
REPASZ BAND JOINS CU-LOCK HAVEN BAND FOR SPRING CONCERT
There will be a spring celebration concert April 24th at The Commonwealth University-Lock Haven in the Price Performance Center Auditorium. According to a press release, the CU-Lock Haven Band will perform and 55 members of The Repasz Band, the oldest community band in America, will also provide a portion of the conert. Both bands will then perform together. The concert is next Thursday at 7:30pm and is free and open to the public.
LOCK HAVEN WOMAN ARRESTED OVER FATAL CRASH
Lycoming Regional police have arrested a Clinton County woman for her role in a fatal accident along Route 220 in Porter Township on February 17th. State police report that 35-year-old Kari Lisa Greenaway of Lock Haven was the responsible party for the death of 38 year old Michael Kurelja, in a crash after she was driving south in the northbound lanes of Route 220, when she also clipped a tractor trailer that caused her car to flip and catch fire. Greenaway fled the scene running across the highway and was hit by a the side view mirror of a southbound vehicle before Lycoming Regional Police then located her and took her into custody. She was charged with 3rd Degree Murder, Homicide By Vehicle, Accidents Involving Death, and more and was arraigned in Lycoming County Court. She was taken to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of bail.
SHAMOKIN TEENS CAUGHT BREAKING INTO LOCAL HOMES
Three men including two male juveniles were caught breaking into vacant homes in Shamokin Wednesday. According to the News Item, 19-year-old Angel Gonzales of East Cameron Township and a 15 and 16 year old attempted to flee the scene and were pursued by police who did take them into custody. After a search warrant was issued for the property, authorities found a loaded handgun inside. Gonzales was incarcerated at Northumberland County Jail on 25-thousand dollars bail, and the 15 year old juvenile were taken into custody by Northumberland juvenile probation officers. The 16 year old has active warrants from Philadelphia Juvenile Probation and was detained in Shamokin. The investigation continues.
MORE TREE WORK ALONG I-180 TODAY
Tree clearing and other work is continuing along I-180 today in both directions. The contractor will clear trees between the Faxon Exit and the Route 87 /Montoursville exit in both directions. According to PennDOT, drainage upgrades at the Interstate 180 west Fairfield Road exit ramp will also continue as part of a two-year highway improvement project. Use caution along the roadway when crews are on the scene.
DRUG TAKE BACK DAY APRIL 26TH
National Drug Take-Back Day is coming up Saturday, April 26th. According to a press release, the program helps Pennsylvania residents safely dispose of unwanted prescription drugs. Law enforcement agencies and pharmacies across central Pennsylvania have been involved in this program for 28 years and will host drop-off sites from 10am until 2pm on Saturday. In Williamsport, City Police at 245 West 4th Street and the Lycoming County Sheriff’s Office at 48 West third Street will be available to take discarded medicine.
