JERSEY SHORE MAN IN CUSTODY FOR THREATS AT HIS HOME
A Jersey Shore man is in custody after an incident at his home on Marion Street March 13th after officers arrived being called for an alleged fentanyl overdose. According to North Central PA dot com, when police arrived on the scene 31-year-old Kyle Robert Keller initially made contact with officers but then locked himself inside with weapons, threatening to blow up the home using propane. Officers entered the home where Keller was in the basement with propane, gasoline and fabricated weapons. He was taken into custody, but continued to threaten a woman at the home and resisted arrest. Keller was charged with four counts of terroristic threats, harassment charges and more. He is in Lycoming County Prison in lieu of 100 thousand dollars bail.
FUNDS STOLEN FROM ELKLAND BOROUGH
Almost a thousand dollars was stolen from Elkland Borough in Tioga County after a suspect impersonated an employee at city hall in February. According to a report by Pennsylvania State Police in Mansfield, they responded to a report of the theft after they said borough employees reported they had been convinced to change banking information prior to a payroll cycle by the alleged employee. State police did not say whether the impersonation was performed over the phone or through email, but said that 970 dollars was taken from the Elkland Borough accounts. PUBLIC HEARING ABOUT PFAS IN COLUMBIA COUNTY WATER
A public hearing will take place this month with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to accept testimony from the public regarding DEP’s response in the North Centre Township over Perfluoroalkyl substances in public drinking water supplies. According to North Central PA dot com, the PFA’s have been detected at levels above the federal drinking water standards around the Brookside Village Mobile Home Park in Columbia County. The public hearing will take place on Wednesday, March 19, at 6pm at the Lime Ridge Community Center, on 4th Street in Bloomsburg. PIAA VOLLEYBALL FOR MONTOURSVILLE
Varsity Volleyball is coming to Montoursville. According to the Sun Gazette, the Montoursville School Board recently approved girls’ volleyball as a PIAA team sport. School administrators say there has been a volleyball club for the past year which helps the team get ready for competing at a PIAA level. The coach of the team, Tom Kuuipo said the group of girls in the club this year are really dedicated to the sport.
MAN ACCUSED OF STEALING DATA FROM GIESINGER REMAINS JAILED
The man accused of stealing data from over a million Geisinger patients who has a history of harassment and cyber stalking including charges he currently faces, has been ordered to remain in prison after he was described as a flight risk. According to the News Item, Max Vance was employed through Microsoft as a contractor for Nuance, a company Geisinger contracted to upgrade their software. When Vance was fired for unrelated misconduct, he allegedly used his prior credentials to gain access to private patient files. He was charged January 30th with obtaining information from a protected computer stemming from the data breach. When police searched his residence, they found equipment to make false IDS and firearms including a non-serialized handgun. They filed additional charges from a domestic violence restraining order by possessing the firearms.
HUGHESVILLE MAN IN CUSTODY FOR SEX ABUSE OF CHILDREN
A Hughesville man was jailed for sex abuse charges against him when he was babysitting two brothers in December of 2024. According to the Sun Gazette, Hughesville police received information from Child Youth Service about accusations against 62 year old Richard J. Feldser and conducted additional interviews with the victims who described several incidents from a few years before in which Feldser attempted to assault them. He was arraigned on rape charges, indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor and more. He is in Lycoming County Prison in lieu of 100 thousand dollars bail.
MEET THE NEW POLICE CHIEF IN LEWISBURG
A meet the new chief the Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department event will take place this month in Lewisburg. According to The Daily Item, the public will get to meet Dan Embeck who started December 4th as the department’s new chief after Paul Yost, the first chief for the Buffalo Valley department retired in December. Embeck was formerly the chief of South Williamsport and former Milton Borough police corporal. The program will be at the CommUnity Zone, 328 Market Street in Lewisburg on March 27th starting at 4pm until 5:30.
CAT NEUTERING CLINIC IN APRILIN LINDEN
A low cost neutering clinic for cats is available in April in Linden. According to North Central PA dot com, Amanda Paulhamus of Paulhamus Veterinary Associates will host the event April 5th at the Woodward Township Volunteer Fire Company and pet owners can reserve an appointment online with a 30 dollar deposit at paulhamusvet.youcanbook.me. Only male cats older than 4 months in a travel crate or trap will be accepted for the 65 dollar visit and along with the neuter procedure will also be given a rabies vaccine and flea, tick and heartworm prevention.
