LAWMAKER FIGHTING FOR AM RADIO
Congressman Dan Meuser is arguing to keep AM radio in new vehicles through the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act. According to a press release, the bipartisan bill will ensure drivers can continue to access AM radio in vehicles as an essential tool for communication through critical news, emergency alerts, and real-time updates – especially in rural areas. The legislation would keep AM radio a standard piece of equipment in new cars, and also direct federal agencies to study viable alternatives for emergency communication so they can report on the cost and feasibility of implementing them.
