MAN INJURED IN COAL TOWNSHIP CRASH
A one car accident brought down a utility pole and sent the driver to the hospital Monday afternoon around 2:30pm in Coal Township. According to the News Item, police say 56 year old James Daily was driving south on Route 125 when he struck a utility pole head-on sending his car down the embankment near the intersection of state Route 125 and Bear Valley Road. Daily called EMS from his car for assistance. The Coal Township Rescue squad extricated the man from the vehicle that was parallel to Shamokin Creek, and transported him to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. The road was closed while crews restored the utility wires until about 9:30pm Monday.
MORE THEFT CHARGES FOR LOCAL SCREEN PRINTER
More theft by deception charges have been filed against the man who is awaiting trial for an earlier set of felony offenses in which he charged the Lycoming County 9/11 Memorial Coalition 7 thousand dollars for T-shirt and decal printing, but never delivered the products. According to the Sun Gazette, new charges against Michael Allen Ritter include theft and theft by deception for allegedly taking over a thousand dollars from the Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Company for T-shirts and not providing the shirts. Ritter waived his preliminary hearing last week and is free on 5 thousand dollars bail.
DMV LOCATIONS CLOSED FOR PRESIDENT’S DAY
PennDOT says all driver license and photo centers, including its full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed Saturday, February 15, 2025, through Monday, February 17, 2025, in observance of the Presidents Day holiday. Products and services like photo ID and vehicle registration renewals; driver-history services; changes of address; driver license and vehicle registration restoration and more are still available online at pa.gov under agencies – DMV
SPUD-FEST LIBRARY FUNDRAISER IN MARCH
A Mifflinburg library is having their annual Spud Fest To-Go fundraiser in March so the public can support their programs and services. According to the Herr Library, the spud-fest provides a hearty meal at home that also helps support the library. CITY FUGITIVE APPREHENDED
A Williamsport fugitive is now in custody after police apprehended him January 22nd , hiding in the basement of a Walnut Street home. According to the Sun gazette, several bench warrants were issued for Jacob Thomas Greenly including 3 for drug charges and one for a DUI and felony endangerment of a child from an early morning crash in Lewis Township last February in which the child victim sustained facial fractures. Greenly is in Lycoming County Prison in lieu of 25 thousand dollars bail after waiving his preliminary hearing.
TWO JAILED AFTER DOMESTIC INCIDENT
Coal Township Police took a couple into custody last Tuesday after responding to a domestic incident about 10pm at the 1400 block of Pulaski Street. According to the News Item, 35 year old Robert Foust of Trevorton and 29 year old Wendi Baumerts were both arrested for aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment charges after the fight in which Foust attempted to strangle Baumerts and she stabbed him with a scissors in his right hand. Foust was also charged with violating PFA orders and with a drug offense. Both were taken to Northumberland County Jail in lieu of bail.
PORCH PIRATE SOUGHT BY MILTON STATE POLICE
State police in Milton are seeking a suspect who stole a Fed Ex package off of a victim’s porch on January 28th. According to North Central PA dot com, police say a FedEx driver told them a suspicious grey Honda was following the delivery vehicle while he dropped off packages in the neighborhood. After a delivery on Thistle Way in Valley Township, the driver said the suspicious vehicle was gone and after he passed a home that he had delivered to, the packages were gone. After verification, the driver learned the owner never received the over 14 hundred dollars of electronics that were mailed to the home. GRANTS FOR CHESAPEAKE BAY WATERSHED RESTORATION IN PA
Lycoming County will benefit from a portion of millions of dollars in grants for waterway and land restoration projects for Pennsylvania. According to a press release, the PA Department of Environmental protection awarded 350 thousand dollars in Growing Greener Plus funding for Chesapeake Bay conservation efforts in Lycoming County , focusing on water quality and erosion control. Grants were also awarded to projects in Schuylkill, Northumberland, Snyder, Union, Montour and Clinton Counties including 100 thousand dollars to support stream restoration in Long Spring Run
