WOMAN ARRESTED FOR RECKLESS DRIVING IN NEIGHBORHOOD
A woman from Williamsport has been charged with first-degree misdemeanor terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, and other traffic offenses, for nearly hitting two adults and a child. According to North Central PA dot com, court records say neighbors yelled at 28 year old Ameerah Yasmine Blackwell to slow down as she drove past the home at the 600 block of Wilson Street on October 20th. Police say Blackwell initially got out of her car and yelled back, then reversed and proceeded to come back around on Wilson driving fast witnesses say almost onto the sidewalk. Police discovered Blackwell was driving with a suspended license without insurance. She was taken into custody with no bail listed and will have a preliminary hearing December 8th.
DANVILLE FILES CHARGES WITH DA ABOUT THREATENING LETTER
The identity of the person who wrote the threatening letter last Thursday that forced Danville Area Schools into a flexible learning day Friday, was identified by the school officials and is now known by local police. According to the Daily Item, beyond saying the person is a student and that there are charges filed with the district attorney, the new Danville Area Superintendent, Molly Nied, did not release any more information about the suspect.
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT BUDGET PASSED WITH NO INCREASE
South Williamsport’s proposed 2023 budget, previously recommended by the administration, was passed this week, preserving the current tax rate with no property tax increase. According to the Sun Gazette, Borough manager Steven Cappelli said the balanced budget is 2.63 million plus dollars for police, codes enforcement, as well as public works. The proposed details of the budget are available for public review at 329 West Southern Avenue at the South Williamsport Borough Office.

SUSPECT WHO SOLD STOLEN BIKE CAUGHT
A Williamsport man is free on bail after being charged for selling a stolen motorcycle to a New York State resident last Spring. According to the Sun Gazette, Joseph Newman faces felony receiving stolen property after police say he obtained a stolen bike that had been reported missing from a barn in Liberty in early February. Court records say Newman sold the bike for just over 2 thousand dollars, it has since been recovered.
MAN WHO POSED AS FIREFIGHTER CHARGED
Charges against the man from Sunbury who police allege posed as a firefighter and revealed deaths of two fire victims to family without being authorized, have been held for court in Northumberland County. According to the Daily Item, fire crews say they saw 39-year-old Michael Stahl at the scene of the deadly fire that happened in October at the 300 block of Walnut Street in Sunbury, working the fire without being a member of any fire department. Stahl denied talking to any victims’ families, and says he is trained as a firefighter. Stahl faces felony risking a catastrophe and theft as well as a misdemeanor charge of impersonating a public servant.
ANNUAL RACE COMING BACK TO PA
Williamsport has been chosen as the host city for the Endless Mountains Adventure race in June of 2023. According to the Sun Gazette, this is the second year that Adventure racing has come to Pennsylvania. Last year, Clarion hosted 32, 2 to 4 person teams who competed against each other in a five-day course by foot, bike and boat using a map and compass. The course has the racers collect checkpoints along the way while focusing on teamwork, athletic skill and navigational strategy. The Endless Mountains Adventure Race is part of Philadelphia’s Rootstock Racing which directs adventure races around the Commonwealth.
CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARADE TOMORROW
Backyard Broadcasting joins in the fun when Santa comes to Downtown Williamsport for the Children’s Magical Christmas Parade tomorrow, that parade starting off at 4th and Market and going to 4th and Elmira. Be sure to join Santa and Mayor Derek Slaughter when they turn on the holiday lights on The Green after the parade, on the corner of Hepburn and West Fourth Streets. Children will be able to see and talk with Santa during that time. The National Weather Service says there’s a chance of snow Friday afternoon and the temperatures will be very cold into Friday night – down to the 20s for the forecasted low.
